- Hang on , isn't this supposed to be an art studio blog?
The last couple of weeks I've been doing NanNan duty - watching my amazing kids as they go about their parenting. I'm proud to say that they all spend time with their offspring ,reading to them ,taking them for walks , helping them make stuff. Not all kids are so lucky , with parents who are willing to invest in their family with time and love. I realise that these days time is at a premium (though I'm not sure that it's any worse than when we had a young family!) and that there are the usual financial strains of bringing up kids. But time spent with children is never wasted. It's easy to say that you're too busy, but even five minutes reading a book together pays off . This really is an investment in both their future and yours , bringing them up to value time spent with family , making them interested in the world around them , showing them new (and old )ideas. And it's an investment with a good return- they will grow up feeling loved and supported , which can only be an good thing.
PS. the same theory goes for painting- you may not have enough time or money to give art the time you think you need, but even 5 minutes a day spent sketching, reading an art article or looking at other peoples work will keep you inspired and learning.
So don't ever feel that putting 10 cents in the piggy bank isn't worth doing- it all adds up!
